Meet the Edgars

There is a lot of wildlife down in these here parts. But so far my favorites are the ones that share our house with us.
Meet the Edgars, well we call them the Edgars but really they are better known as Geckos.

I love them all and they come down and join us for cocktails every evening. And every once in a while they'll jump on you and their sticky little feet feel so funny on your skin. Anyway here are a few videos of them enjoying their drinks.

Eat your heart our David Attenbourgh!

I would put more up but these take forever! But I think you get the gist.

Beaches all the time

Have been riding over to the beaches quite a bit lately. It’s quite the trek on a beach bike but worth it once you’re there. The boys go surfing and sis and I just play in the waves and sit on the beach. It’s relaxing and nothing beats the sounds of the waves hitting the beach.

Here I am on the way to the beach yesterday. Look how happy I am.

This is Bluff, the beach of choice these days for surfing. I am going to give it a shot soon, but not there, the waves seem too big for a beginner.

Nate and Heather looking badass in the water.

There’s a great spot on the ride home called Carolina’s. We stop there often on our ride home for a yummy rum punch and the best nachos and hummus plate on the island.

Off to the Beach and the Botanical Gardens

Yesterday I spent my first day at the beach. I have to brag that I did an amazing job of not getting sunburned.

Question: Who can get a sunburn while sitting in the shade?
Answer: This girl.

The above beach is called Playa del Drago and is fairly remote and empty is was really nice. We saw a baby Howler Monkey and a pet Spider Monkey in the little beach settlement.

It was actually kind of sad. I’m not used to animals not being treated like part of the family and forgot that down in the Caribbean people have a different take on pets and their roles in the home. It’s good for me to see but it isn’t easy sometimes.

Today we took a tour of the Botanical Gardens and saw more Howler Monkeys and actually spotted a Sloth which was very cool, even if he didn’t do a damn thing. Here are some pretty flowers.

That’s it so far folks. Hope this isn’t all coming across as gloating. I really just want to show you what I’m up to.

Safe and sound and Panama bound

I have finally arrived south of the boarder. I am making my way down to my big goal destinations and hope to get them all into the last two months of travel that I have ahead of me.
I landed in Panama two days ago and so far it’s gone smoothly. It’s quite hot here but very lush and friendly. I stayed the night in Panama City Tuesday night and jumped on a very ‘club paradise’ like plane to head even further into the jungle. Landed in Bocas Del Toro and sis picked me up at the airport.
Oh before I go any further I have to say I had the best cabbie in Panama City. His name was Mark Anthony and he’s a singer and musician and he sang to me on my way to the airport. Hilarious. He also wanted my take on his newest album that he played for me. It wasn’t so bad actually.
Ok back to Bocas. So sis met me at the airport and we went and had a cup of cafĂ© con leche at the local hotel with internet access. H says we’ll be putting in a few hours there over the next month or so.
So Nate and his friend Sean picked us up in the boat and we left for the casa. Here’s a picture.

Here’s everyone just chilling out inside.

I then proceeded to crash as I had been up since 4:30 Stay tuned.

Meanwhile back in Boston…

Thank you for everyone who came out to show me a good time and feel loved while I was travelling through town. I had a great night out with Captain, Crabby Horan and his baby mama, Shelley and K to the O to the B. You guys are the best.
Thanks to Lyds and Jess for my girl time sessions. And thanks to the Shoss’ for brunch on Sunday.
A special thanks to Scott for putting up with me as I invaded his flat. You truly are the host with the most.
I’m off to Panama and hopefully beyond, but know that I miss all of you and it was great having a little time with all of you.
